My first Joya Barcelona experience (as an exhibitor)!

Visiting again one of the most beautiful cities in the world was exciting enough for me, but showing my work in JOYA Barcelona made me feel extra happy, and honoured too! The setting up day started with the excitement I got from the amazing Arts Santa Monica space. A 17th century historical building in the beginning of La Rambla, just by the Balearic sea. During the set up I had the chance to meet with some of the other artists, friends or met for the first time, having very interesting chats about our works and news. It was also great when we helped each other with setting up our stands!

The next sunny day the fair began! The place was full of visitors watching those very beautiful and interesting jewellery collections, having the chance to talk about them with all of the artists. Gallerists, collectors, jewellery school students, journalists, bloggers and jewellery lovers were making this event feels like an art jewellery celebration. Especially if we add to this all of the OFF-JOYA contemporary jewellery exhibitions in 15 galleries, in all over the city!

During the lunch brakes we were attending some very interesting conferences. Giampaolo Babetto talking about his work, an open dialogue about the contemporary jewellery field and a lecture from Wolfgang Lösche about Schmuck exhibition, kept us away from the tapas bars around La Rambla.

From the beginning until the last day of the fair a large number of awards were also given to the participating artists from Autor fair (winner: Elin Flognman), Alchimia school (winner: Natsumi Kaihara) , Arte Y Joya (winner: Heng Lee), En ‘Joiat (winners including: Rodrigo Acosta and Angela Ciobanu),  and of course JOYA Award 2014 won by Gigi Mariani.

During these three days I met with very interesting people who are working in the contemporary jewellery field or they were just visiting the fair as art jewellery enthusiasts. I had the chance to show and talk about my work and it’s concept, while getting a very positive feedback that  filled me with the right energy to keep on.

Til next time… Keep on Jewellering!
